We are pleased to announce that the featured nonprofit for the 2025 UWCFD workplace giving campaign is WestSide Baby.
Meet the 2025 Featured Nonprofit, WestSide Baby!

When you hear a baby cry, you might assume they need a diaper change, but diapers are more than a simple fix. They’re expensive. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, diapers cost about 30 cents each, adding up to roughly $1,000 in a baby’s first year, not including sales tax. For many families, that cost is overwhelming.
That’s where WestSide Baby comes in. WestSide Baby partners with the community to collect and distribute essential items like diapers, clothing, and equipment to children across Western King County. Their goal: ensure every child has the basics they need to be safe, warm, and healthy.
In 2024, WestSide Baby distributed over 2.3 million diapers through more than 100 partner agencies. These agencies work directly with families and ensure that donated items reach the children who need them most.
Why does this matter? Because federal assistance programs like SNAP or WIC don’t cover diapers. Many low-income families are forced to reuse diapers, delay changes or resort to unsafe alternatives like paper towels and plastic bags. This can lead to rashes, infections and maternal depression.
Lack of diapers also limits access to childcare, making it harder for parents to work or attend school. And with diaper prices rising, families now spend nearly 14% of their monthly income on diapers.
A healthy diaper supply supports not just a child’s physical health but the well-being and stability of the entire family.
