CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures in a clinical setting. Presents and/or coordinates educational programs. Establishes and maintains a quality assurance program.

DEFINITION

Participates in training of graduated complexity for invasive and/or non-invasive diagnostic imaging procedures such as radiographic, cardiac catheterization and/or angiographic examinations in a clinical setting.

TYPICAL WORK

Participates in systematic on the-job training that includes:

Conducts diagnostic imaging procedures, including preparing patient and examination room for procedures and maintaining procedure log;

Assists with the operation of a wide variety of equipment to produce an imaging record on film, digital and/or high resolution recording systems;

Calibrates, adjusts and maintains equipment;

Administers contrast media and pharmaceuticals under physician direction;

Calibrates and operates a variety of complex computerized physiological equipment and transducers to record and monitor electrocardiograms and blood pressures to assess patient clinical status;

Assists in administering patient care services to maintain continuum of care such as intravenous therapy and medications, wound dressing and incision care, oxygen and suction, utilization of sterile techniques;

Conducts/performs unplanned procedures/examinations;

Maintains inventory of supplies and evaluates new products and equipment;

Participates in formal training programs in continuing education;

Operates diagnostic imaging equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate; assists physician with imaging procedures;

Positions patients for examination, immobilizing patients as necessary;

Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified

Current enrollment in a formal AMA-approved radiologic technology training program

OR

equivalent education/experience.
