Diversity and inclusion

Diversity is one of UW’s core values and it is expressed, championed, and celebrated in many ways. From inspiring our students to become global citizens, ready to think beyond themselves, to faculty and staff affinity groups that meet to share common cultural experiences—the UW thrives because of the cultural richness of its community.

Building Connections: Faculty and staff affinity groups provide networking opportunities. Active groups include: Asian & Pacific Islander American Association; Black Association; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Association; Latinx Association; Native Association.

Core Commitments: You can find diversity champions at every level of the UW. Our Vice Provost for Diversity/Vice President for Minority Affairs provides leadership for university-wide diversity initiatives and oversees a full spectrum of programs and services that foster institutional change on behalf of diversity.

Equal Opportunity & Disability Accommodation: The University of Washington is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer. The University is building a culturally diverse faculty and staff and strongly encourages applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities and covered veterans.
