BASIC FUNCTION
Lead Pharmacy Technicians and others; perform a variety of technical and specialized pharmaceutical tasks in a pharmacy; assist with the development and implementation of procedures.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision and control of a licensed pharmacist, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others.
TYPICAL WORK
Direct the work of interns, students, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants;
Assist in coordinating and conducting the instruction and training on technical, specialized and distributive functions;
Participate in the development and implementation of procedures;
Assist in maintaining accurate time and attendance records;
Schedule pharmacy technician and pharmacy assistant staff;
Perform documentation functions, including billing, in designated areas of the pharmacy;
Monitor and perform in-house manufacturing of pharmaceuticals;
Perform order entry of medication orders into the pharmacy computer;
Assist with periodic peer review and evaluation of pharmacy assistants and interns;
Participate in process improvement program development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring;
Perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician II;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician II
OR
equivalent education/experience.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT
State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification.
