BASIC FUNCTION

Lead others and order, receive, and dispense stockroom supplies and equipment using a manual or automated inventory system.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others OR have complete responsibility for an offsite or mini stockroom operation. Under general supervision, receive, issue, store, and inventory supplies in an organization stockroom in accordance with established policies and objectives. Plan and organize work, determine the methods which will be used to complete work and assist in determining priorities and deadlines.

TYPICAL WORK

Lead staff issuing materials, supplies, and equipment;

Maintain manual or automated inventory control of supplies, materials, and equipment; insure proper tag inventory as outlined by state procedures; maintain records of equipment;

Monitor movement of stock and supplies; obtain estimates of future needs from users; prepare and submit purchase orders and requisitions;

Develop stocking plans and rearrange stock to accommodate inventory movement; use appropriate materials handling equipment to move stock and equipment;

Instruct users and stockroom personnel on cleaning and minor repairs of used stock;

Prepare and price inventory lists for stockroom; expedite special orders from central stores and outside vendors;

Maintain stockroom and perform custodial duties in assigned stockroom areas;

Clean and make repairs on equipment;

Perform the work of Stockroom Attendant II;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified

High school graduation or equivalent AND one year of full-time experience in retail selling, shipping, and receiving or warehouse work or as a Stockroom Attendant II OR equivalent education/experience.
