BASIC FUNCTION

Schedule, coordinate and perform laundry processing tasks.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, lead subordinate laundry workers on a regular basis; or have primary responsibility for the coordination and completion of laundry activities.

TYPICAL WORK

Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of employees;

Direct and perform flat-work processing, rough-dry processing, pressing and assembly operations;

Verify laundry lists, check and count user orders, coordinate production to meet work orders and maintain laundry operations records;

Recommend work improvement methods as needed;

Operate general commercial laundry production equipment;

May coordinate laundry processing activities to meet user requirements and production standards;

May train subordinate laundry workers in routine laundry operations work;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified

Six months of experience as a Laundry Operator I, or equivalent, in a large commercial or large institutional laundry. Completion of a training course in laundry operations may substitute for three months of required experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
