DRIVER - WAREHOUSE WORKER

BASIC FUNCTION

Operate light-powered equipment to move and deliver supplies, equipment and materials; perform minor maintenance and servicing of vehicles; perform warehousing duties.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, operate light, medium (two-axle), or one and one half ton vehicles; service vehicles, perform minor maintenance duties and perform a variety of related duties such as warehousing duties and pick up and delivery of supplies and equipment.

TYPICAL WORK

Operate a variety of light equipment such as pick-up, forklift, pallet jacks, electric cart and passenger type vehicles;

Pick up, deliver, and assemble as needed, a variety of items such as supplies, furniture, custodial goods, printing stock, etc.;

Load and unload vehicles using forklift, hand truck and/or hand carry freight and supplies to destination; inspect incoming items to verify condition; reconcile receiving/shipping documents and purchase orders;

Perform warehousing duties; perform minor routine maintenance on campus vehicles;

Drive vehicles to shop or service station for servicing, washing and cleaning or major repairs;

May assist with a variety of custodial duties;

May pick up and deliver hazardous materials;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified

Physical ability to do required work AND one year of experience operating light trucks, delivery vehicles and related equipment AND possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license OR equivalent education/experience.
