BASIC FUNCTION
Lead or perform all phases of laundry washroom operations.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, lead subordinate workers; perform all institutional laundry washing tasks.
TYPICAL WORK
Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of employees;
Direct the receipt, marking and sorting of soiled laundry;
Direct and perform loading, unloading and operation of large institutional washers, extractors, tumblers and other washroom equipment;
Determine and prepare proper washing formulas and chemicals needed to process individual washer loads;
Apply special stain removal and spotting procedures when necessary;
Maintain sanitary washroom environment and equipment; report any mechanical problems to the Washroom Supervisor;
Report potential or current washroom equipment malfunctions to the Laundry Production Supervisor;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
One year of experience in a commercial laundry or six months of experience in a large institutional or large commercial laundry as a washroom operator. Completion of a training course in washroom equipment operations may substitute for two months of washroom operator experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
