CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Perform tasks necessary to sorting and wash deck activities.
BASIC FUNCTION
Perform sorting and wash deck duties; operate institutional laundry equipment.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
First-level class of series. Under direct supervision, perform routine washroom tasks (e.g., sorting linens) and operate washroom equipment.
TYPICAL WORK
Sort, mark and prepare soiled laundry for washing;
Load, unload and operate large institutional washers, extractors, tumblers and other washroom equipment;
Assist with preparation of washing chemicals;
Maintain sanitary washroom environment and equipment;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
Six months of experience in a commercial laundry or three months of experience in a large institutional or large commercial laundry. Completion of a training course in washroom operations may substitute for two months of experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
