CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Prepare and serve food and beverages and clean work area.
BASIC FUNCTION
Perform advanced Food Service Worker duties such as leading Food Service Workers, independently operating a remote food service area, or functioning as a short order/grill cook
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Employees in this classification perform one or more of the following advanced Food Service Worker duties:
- Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others
- Independently operate a food service area separate from centralized dining areas.
- Function as assistant to full-time cooks.
TYPICAL WORK
Lead employees in food preparation, serving and/or dishwashing;
Lead or independently operate a remote food service area such as a snack bar or espresso stand;
Function as a short order/grill cook;
Weigh, prepare, and serve meals to meet special diet requirements;
May check food on each patient's tray against diet menu on tray and ask tray line employees to make correction;
Participate in cleaning work area and equipment;
Complete forms including par order forms, waste sheets, temperature logs, and/or production logs;
May process payments including cash and credit/debit card transactions;
May assist in orienting and training new staff;
Perform duties of a Food Service Worker 1; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment AND one year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation and serving or equivalent education/experience.
