BASIC FUNCTION
Lead assigned staff; collect blood specimens and perform simple laboratory procedures.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others.
TYPICAL WORK
Check and record the work of phlebotomists performing human venipuncture;
Assure blood drawing procedures are followed and orders are completed as requested;
Assist in training new employees; assign work;
Maintain inventory and order supplies;
Maintain recordkeeping and data collection;
Perform the work of a Phlebotomist; and
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduation AND one year of experience as a phlebotomist
OR
equivalent education/experience.
Legal Requirement
Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy Certification (MA-P) with the Washington State Department of Health, OR obtain the MA-P within 60 days of start date.
