CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Coordinate the daily patient flow and provide patient support services in an admitting, registration or patient care area in a medical center.

BASIC FUNCTION

Lead Patient Services Specialists and other assigned staff, and perform the work of the other Patient Services Specialist levels.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general direction, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others, train and orient staff, provide feedback on employee performance, as well as identify and resolve problems.

TYPICAL WORK

Participate in interviewing applicants;

Train and orient new employees and/or volunteers to department;

Provide feedback to supervisor for employee performance evaluations, corrective action plans and training plans;

Review and correct the work performed by others for compliance with established procedures;

Schedule emergency shift assignments;

Identify and resolve problems or unusual situations; recommend changes as necessary;

Monitor and evaluate policies and procedures to suggest operational changes;

Assists in the preparation and maintenance of provider and clinic schedules;

Perform the work of the Patient Services Specialist 1, 2, and 3.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified

High School graduation or equivalent AND Three years of Patient Support Service experience

OR

equivalent education/experience.
