DEFINITION
Under general supervision perform lead receptionist duties in a medical or dental clinic and supervise the work of other clerical employees in a clinic.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Positions in this class are distinguished by responsibility for training assistants, supervision of receptionists, and coordination of support services in an ambulatory care setting.
TYPICAL WORK
Perform duties of Clinic Representative I in addition to the following;
Act as lead receptionist; direct, schedule and assist in the training of other receptionists; responsible for written and oral evaluation of receptionists;
Assist in the orientation of new attending staff residents and medical or dental students relating to the clerical operating procedures;
Assemble and maintain procedure manuals containing current forms, memos and procedures applying to the operation of the clinic;
Alert supervisor to problems in the clerical function of the unit and make suggestions for improvement;
Prepare appropriate request form for minor repairs and requisitions for non-medical equipment; check on progress and completion of approved work orders;
Maintain a supply of forms and office supplies used in the receptionist treatment and staff room areas;
Provide work direction for clerical volunteers;
Serve as a resource person to other departments and agencies in the community;
Attend meetings, in-service training, and act as a resource person on committees as required;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union
High School Diploma; AND 18 months of clerical, receptionist or secretarial experience in a medical or dental setting. Applicable training may be substituted on a month-for-month basis for a maximum of nine months of the related work experience. Six months of additional work experience may substitute for high school graduation.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
