BASIC FUNCTION

Operate high-speed copying equipment.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Third-level class of series. Under general supervision, operate high-speed analog or networked digital copiers and perform complex duties following prescribed procedures. Operate PCs and Macintosh computers and manipulate files using a variety of software to prepare files for copying or production; work closely with clients regarding these files.

TYPICAL WORK

Assist Copy Center Coordinator or Supervisor with the daily operations of a copy center;

Receive and fill copy orders from clients;

Assist clients with networked printers at the copy center;

Work with files from the FTP site, e-mail, or customer disk or other media;

Inform clients on most suitable methods for transfer of files;

Receive and fill requests for copy work;

Scan, produce, assemble and deliver completed work;

Operate cash register; maintain records of accounts to be charged;

Clean, and make minor repairs to machines; report needed machine repairs and supply items;

Keep records of production and supplies;

May perform clerical duties;

May operate other machines, such as digital color copy machines or small bindery equipment;

May direct the work of others, including hourly or student employees;

Perform the work of a Copy Center Equipment Operator 2;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

High school graduation or GED certificate plus one year of experience in a high-speed photocopy production environment.
