BASIC FUNCTION

Supervise copy center equipment operators and/or other staff engaged in copy services; coordinate client requests; maintain records and supplies.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.

Under general direction, supervise the operations of all staff, including hourly and student employees, in a full-service copy center involved in production using a variety of equipment.

TYPICAL WORK

Plan, schedule, determine priorities and direct work of staff engaged in the reproduction of a large variety of forms, instructional materials, reports, and other printed materials;

Train employees in the operation, adjustment, and care of high-speed photocopy equipment;

Supervise employees engaged in sorting, collating, stapling, binding, cutting, and shipping of finished materials;

Approve leave of classified staff and students/hourly employees;

Review and sign 220 forms;

Order supplies and equipment parts; evaluate and recommend equipment purchases;

Respond to inquiries regarding copy services policies and procedures; meet with vendors, clients, and staff;

Ensure equipment maintenance by planning and scheduling periodic inspections and repairs by vendors;

Maintain production and inventory records; calculate and authorize billing for supplies and services provided; process chargebacks; adjust pricing when necessary;

Provide demonstrations and training for users;

May be responsible for copyright information and compliance;

Assist clients with digital technology including file transfers, printing from disk, etc;

Provide outstanding customer service;

May supervise mailroom operations;

May supervise a delivery service;

May operate production equipment when necessary;

Perform duties of Copy Center Coordinator 2;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

High school graduate and three years of experience working with high-speed xerography/digital equipment in a production environment

OR

equivalent education/experience.
