BASIC FUNCTION
Prepare input data for use on a computer and maintain quality control over computer-generated output.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Second-level class of series. Under general supervision, perform data control functions in the preparation and distribution of computer input/output for frequently run routine jobs with predictable variables such as: (1) preparing and organizing input for computer processing; (2) setting up jobs to run on computers; (3) staging the run sequence on routine jobs, verifying results of the run.
TYPICAL WORK
Maintain and record balancing logs or controls to assure audit trail of source data to corresponding computer produced reports;
Prepare or direct the preparation of computer input and/or user data;
Stage the run sequence on frequently run systems with predictable variables;
Control distribution of computer produced output which may include bursting, decollating and binding;
Control inventory and order required supplies;
Monitor data control schedule to meet commitments to users;
Confer with users to update and monitor control mechanisms;
May perform tape library functions;
May perform the duties of Data Control Technician I;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union
One year of full-time experience as a Data Control Technician I, or equivalent; OR six months of full-time experience as a Data Control Technician I, or equivalent and six months of applicable training; OR six months of full-time experience as a Data Control Technician I and one year of full-time experience as a Computer Operator, or equivalent.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
