DEFINITION

Manage credit activities for an institution or for a major operating activity within an institution.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Positions in this class will be identified as the senior staff position devoted exclusively to credit management activities. Positions at the ""A"" level supervise 2 to 5 employees; at the ""B"" level, 6 to 15 employees.

TYPICAL WORK

Supervise a staff of credit analysts and/or clerical personnel who are engaged in providing credit and collection services at an institution;

Interview, evaluate and select personnel for employment; handle basic supervisory and disciplinary problems; train and audit employees in learning the system in use;

Develop and coordinate systems and procedures for collections by applying various kinds of collection techniques; coordinate requirements with the data processing facility;

Supervise procedures for the review of patient financial files; develop contact procedures and policies for employment of collection agencies and for coordination with the State Attorney General's Office;

Supervise financial file reviews for a complete analysis of charges, payments and allowances for patients;

Supervise the billing of patients or students; reconcile records; assure that payments are properly received and recorded;

Maintain files and documentation of bankruptcy and wage-earner-plan proof claims;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

Baccalaureate degree with major study in accounting, business administration, or closely allied field. Experience in credit, collections, financial management, or accounting may be substituted for college-level course work on a year-for-year basis.

Examination Requirements:

A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
