BASIC FUNCTION

Compose typed summaries of proceedings of committees, councils, or other institution bodies.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, compose minutes of proceedings of institution-wide boards; committees, councils or similar bodies.

TYPICAL WORK

Use shorthand, speedwriting, stenotype, or similar method to record proceedings during meetings;

Compose summary meeting report from notes, edit draft copy, reproduce or publish and distribute to specified mailing list;

Process requests for statistical or informational material regarding programs under discussion by specific bodies; issue material to authorized recipients; screen incoming documents addressed to current issues under consideration; drat replies to inquiries for review by chairperson;

Establish and maintain file system of proceedings and related material; assemble and identify records of quasi-legal bodies; maintain confidentiality of specific reports, summaries of other material within institution and legal guidelines;

Assist in preparing material for annual election of Senate and council membership involving total voting faculty;

Brief chairpersons on background information about matters which are current issues before their groups, and assist in research;

perform complex word processing tasks such as merging and sorting, integrating text with graphics, spreadsheet and data base files, uploading/downloading, and creating footnotes and outlines.

Perform related duties as required.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

Two years of college-level course work, AND one year of work experience in composition, editing, journalism, or publications and keyboarding/typing and transcription

equivalent education/experience.
