The employee is scheduled to work from 1900 to 0730 but works overtime from 0730 until 1130. The rest period between the end of the shift on day one and the beginning of the next scheduled shift on day two is less than 10.5 hours. The Nurse is eligible for Shift Break Premium for the standard 8 hours, regardless of the number of hours worked per shift. Overtime pay at 1.5 cannot be applied more than once to the same hours.

The employee works a scheduled shift from 0700 to 1530. Before the next scheduled shift (0700 - 1530, day two) the employee is called back to work at 0200. The length of the rest period between the 8-hour shifts is less than 12 hours. The Nurse is eligible for Shift Break Premium for 3 hours rather than for 8 hours since overtime will be paid for 5 hours on day two. Overtime pay at 1.5 cannot be applied more than once to the same hours. The overtime premium takes precedence over Shift Break Premium.
