AWO

Student Award w/OASI

(Social Security taxes deducted)

One-time monetary award to a UW student based on specific criteria as developed and authorized by the department and described in the award qualifications (e.g., UW student chosen by faculty committee as Freshman of the Year).

Monetary award is subject to Social Security taxes:

  • For Undergraduates when credits taken are below 6.
  • For Graduates when credits taken are below 5.
  • For thesis/dissertation students (700-800 course) when credits taken are below 2.

(See AWU if credits taken are equal to or greater than these limits.)

Amount made as a single payment or added to gross wages

FTE: NO

Department initiates award request with memo to Payroll Director.

UW computer payroll system automatically changes AWO to AWU when the credits are equal to or greater than the limit.
