| Typical Responsibilities | Leads program staff in the production of high quality in-depth news. Provides editorial and technical continuity among all segments of KUOW radio's news and informational programming.Manages editorial planning and coverage of news, public affairs and cultural issues as relevant to assigned program. Supervises production of daily talk program, performs as program host, does interviews as needed, and directs assigned production staff.Assigns and edits news reports and interviews by KUOW staff reporters and articulates station's editorial policies and guidelines. Works closely with reporting staff on the development of feature and investigative news reports and series. Participates in production of special reports and remotes. Works with reporting staff to evaluate tools necessary for news coverage, including research, source and technical needs. Develops priorities and strategic plans for news coverage in coordination with the News Director. Assists Program Director in managing and allocating program resources, and in the planning and implementation of program services. Represents station to external constituencies. |

| Overtime Eligibility | FLSA overtime status is based on the position's duties and responsibilities, and whether or not the position's gross salary is less than the federal FLSA salary basis test or the Washington state salary basis test, whichever is higher. | Professional Staff Exemption | Public Information: Managerial or professional level positions having substantial responsibility for planning and directing the development and communication of information designed to keep the public informed of the institution's programs, accomplishments, and point of view. Individuals exercise discretion in determining content of written copy. Other duties may include creating ideas, laying out artwork, contacting media representatives, and representing the institution directly before the general public. |
