Payroll Title Counseling Services Coordinator
Typical Responsibilities

Coordinates and manages administration, student advising, and support services. Participates in student recruitment, advising resources and materials development, curriculum development, and provision of course support. Communicates and collaborates with other UW departments regarding student support and services. Counsels or advises students regarding major courses of study, career options, academic planning, program eligibility requirements, and degree requirements. This position also interprets department, college, and university requirements.Counsels non-students about university programs and admission requirements, and provides academic planning advice before transferring to the UW. Evaluates applicants for admission to schools or to specific courses of study, counsels students regarding procedures for program reinstatement.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervision of staff is not required, but is commonly found at higher grades in the series. Supervisors have the authority to hire staff, evaluate job performance, and take corrective action if performance is not acceptable.

Overtime Eligibility

FLSA overtime status is based on the position's duties and responsibilities, and whether or not the position's gross salary is less than the federal FLSA salary basis test or the Washington state salary basis test, whichever is higher. Professional Staff Exemption

Counseling of Students: Individuals responsible for directing and/or participating in providing academic, athletic, career, medical, financial aid, student activity, and/or personal counseling to students.

Positions with the primary purpose of counseling students (in comparison to counseling of students AND coordinating support services) belong in the Counselor or Academic Counselor payroll title series.

Limitations

At least 50% of a position's time should be spent on directly counseling students or managing the counseling of students.
