Payroll Title Administrator
Typical Responsibilities

Provides administrative leadership to a school, college or large department within a school or college. Establishes and maintains policies and procedures for all administrative areas, such as budgeting, finance, grant management, human resources administration, space planning, administrative systems, gifts, and development.Manages budgets and financial processes. Allocates office space and may resolve office space disputes.Oversees administrative aspects of recruitment, promotion, and tenure of faculty. Oversees Human Resources administration, including employment, compensation, regulatory compliance (FLSA, FMLA, EEO, and ADA), and training and development. May exercise control over merit increase processes.May oversee or consult on academic functions such as graduate programs and accreditation, student counseling, classroom planning, and registration.Typically reports to a Dean, Chair, or other academic department head.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervision of staff is not required, but is commonly found at higher grades in the series. Supervisors have the authority to hire staff, evaluate job performance, and take corrective action if performance is not acceptable.

Overtime Eligibility

FLSA overtime status is based on the position's duties and responsibilities, and whether or not the position's gross salary is less than the federal FLSA salary basis test or the Washington state salary basis test, whichever is higher. Professional Staff Exemption

Principal Assistants to Executive Heads: Individuals serving as principal assistants to executive heads of a major administrative or academic division and who have major administrative or program responsibility within the division/department and report directly to the executive head. The employee regularly exercises independent judgment and discretion in work directly related to management policies or department business operations and has delegated authority to make commitments that affect department operations.

Alternative Payroll Titles

When the exercise of broad administrative responsibilities is not a position's principal function, consider payroll title series including Assistant to Chair, Manager, Manager of Program Operations, or Administrative Specialist.If the position does not report to an Executive Head, but performs the work of an administrator and has programmatic responsibility, consider the Administrator-Program Operations payroll title.

Must report to an Executive Head.
