CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Design and produce a variety of artwork for publication, presentation, display, research and instructional use, employing a wide range of media and techniques.

BASIC FUNCTION

Prepare routine artwork such as graphs, charts, diagrams, and line drawings, using illustrator's tools which may include computers and their associated input/output devices.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

First-level class of series. Under general supervision, perform routine graphics assignments with routine graphic design duties and assist other graphics personnel.

TYPICAL WORK

Prepare routine artwork for specified purposes;

Prepare camera ready art and/or displays from layouts and comprehensives, oral and/or written instructions, parts and/or photographs;

Layout and ink charts; prepare overlays, graphs and diagrams as instructed;

Prepare freehand or technical drawings from samples and instructions ;

Operate and maintain graphics equipment;

Operate computer graphics terminals and their associated input/output devices for the production of visual material and/or artwork;

May maintain supply inventory; prepare order lists;

May do painting and inking for animated motion pictures;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

One year of graphics, illustration or related college-level art training OR one year of related experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
