Payroll Title Web Graphics Specialist
Typical Responsibilities

Apply creative and original solutions to design and build websites and graphical user interfaces.Creates and develops new website features and functionality, original graphic design elements, promotional content, and solutions to functional problems.Updates content, adds new video programs and maintains websites as needed.May design and prepare e-newsletters, e-solicitations, and other e-communications requiring originality and creativity.

Supervisory Responsibility

Positions in this series are not required to supervise staff.

Overtime Eligibility

FLSA overtime status is based on the position's duties and responsibilities, and whether or not the position's gross salary is less than the federal FLSA salary basis test or the Washington state salary basis test, whichever is higher. Professional Staff Exemption

Graphic Arts and Publications: Individuals having prescribed academic preparation or special training in the fields of graphic arts, printing and publications, and who are assigned to a major academic or administrative unit and who are responsible for the development and design of scholarly or related publications, or the full range of printing and publication activities.

Alternative Payroll Titles

If the primary focus of the position is writing, developing, editing, and maintaining website content to inform the public, the Web Information Specialist may be a more appropriate payroll title.If the primary focus of the position is developing, installing, and maintaining web applications, web servers, database drivers, web software development utilities, and related web system software, the Web Computer Specialist may be a more appropriate payroll title.

Limitations

Work performed by positions in this exemption requires specialized knowledge typically acquired through formal education and training in graphic arts or related field. Typical degrees in this area are Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or Master of Fine Arts (MFA). Other degrees that might apply would be a Bachelor's degree in Design, Graphic Arts or Visual Communications.
