Payroll Title Continuing Education Specialist
Typical Responsibilities

Provides or oversees curriculum development and teaching of extension or continuing education training/course materials and/or programs. May also oversee administrative, operational and/or educational components of extension, continuing education, or fee-based non-degree programs.Examples of responsibilities: - Program and training material development, maintenance, evaluation, and revision, - Instruction and training, - Budget development and monitoring, - Program staff supervision, - Recruiting and admissions, - Prospective instructors selection/recommendations, and - Marketing plan development and coordination.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervision of staff is not required, but is commonly found at higher grades in the series. Supervisors have the authority to hire staff, evaluate job performance, and take corrective action if performance is not acceptable.

Overtime Eligibility

FLSA overtime status is based on the position's duties and responsibilities, and whether or not the position's gross salary is less than the federal FLSA salary basis test or the Washington state salary basis test, whichever is higher. Professional Staff Exemption

Continuing Education: Individuals that have responsibility for administrative, operational and/or educational components of extension or continuing education activities or programs.

Alternative Payroll Titles

When the primary focus of the position is to coordinate continuing education programs, focusing on the operational aspects, a more appropriate payroll title may be Continuing Education Coordinator

Limitations

Positions assigned to this payroll title are limited to those having responsibility for continuing education, extension, or professional continuing education programs. Title cannot be used for educational programs that require official admittance to the UW as a student or to programs designed for and offered to University employees.
