It’s never too soon to begin planning for summer camps, classes and other childcare options \u2014 many programs begin accepting applications for summer enrollment as early as January and very quickly fill up with long waitlists.<\/p>\n

The UW Office of the Youth Protection Coordinator<\/a> offers an expansive directory of UW camps, online classes, and activities for children from preschool through high school. From STEM to art classes to exploring the outdoors and everything in between, find a variety of interesting options for summer, including free activities.<\/p>\n

Champ Camp Great Outdoors summer camp at UW Seattle<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Champions is offering “Champ Camp Great Outdoors,” a full-day summer camp for children aged 5-12 at the University of Washington, Seattle\u2019s Husky Union Building (HUB) and University of Washington, Bothell. Both camps runs from June 29 to August 28, 2026 (closed on July 3), with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Flexible, no-fee extended hours are available: drop-off between 7:30 \u2013 9:00 a.m. and pickup between 4:00 \u2013 5:30 p.m. Each week includes two offsite field trips, offering a mix of nature explorations, STEM challenges, and games.<\/p>\n

Right at School summer camps<\/h4>\n

Through Bright Horizons<\/a>, benefits-eligible employees and UW students receive discounted tuition at Right at School\u2019s summer camps. To access this benefit, visit the Bright Horizons UW<\/a> website and click on \u201cFind before- and after-school care.\u201d From here, you can search for your school from among the districts served in the Puget Sound region. When registering your child, you will need to create a Right at School account that is separate from your Bright Horizons login or UW NetID.<\/p>\n

Steve and Kate\u2019s Summer Day Camps<\/h4>\n

Steven and Kate’s Summer Day Camps<\/a> are discounted by $300 per summer session or $10 a day through Bright Horizons.<\/a> Camps are offered in Seattle and Kirkland. For 43 years, Steve and Kate\u2019s Camps have given kids the encouragement and initiative they need to learn, explore and have fun!<\/p>\n

Online resources<\/h4>\n

Find classes and camps by date, subject, grade level, and format using Elevate Washington<\/a>, a statewide directory of camps, after-school classes, services and supports that help build lifelong skills, improve academic performance, provide safe spaces outside the school day and inspire young people to discover their passions. ParentMap<\/a> magazine includes summers programs to help Puget Sound parents and families and Campwing<\/a> is an online database of over 28,000 camps nationwide.<\/p>\n

Free or subsidized summer programs<\/h4>\n

The best way to find out about these options is to simply ask: many programs offer financial aid, sliding fee scales, or payment plans for parents. For example, UW Youth and Teen Programs has a first come, first served financial aid program available for eligible families. Local community organizations, such as library systems and Parks and Recreation<\/a> departments, are a great resource for free youth programs year-round and during the summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
