Please register to receive a link to the training.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>New or newly promoted supervisors often face a steep learning curve when trying to understand how human resources works at the UW. You must be able to understand and apply a myriad of policies related to everything from ethics in public service to working with unionized employees. Missteps or gaps in knowledge can jeopardize your credibility, put the University at risk, or result in employees being given misinformation or even being treated unfairly or inconsistently.<\/p>\n<h3>Objectives and curriculum<\/h3>\n<p>In this training, explore your responsibilities as an agent of the University, discover how to partner with UW Human Resources, learn about human resource fundamentals, and review the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Performance management<\/li>\n<li>Disability accommodation resources<\/li>\n<li>SafeCampus resources<\/li>\n<li>HR at the U<\/li>\n<li>Hiring process resources<\/li>\n<li>Ethics and policies &#8212; discrimination and harassment<\/li>\n<li>Compensation, layoff and restructuring<\/li>\n<li>Leave administration<\/li>\n<li>Union contracts \/ labor relations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Workshops and registration<\/h3>\n<p>All new supervisors or newly promoted supervisors should attend this workshop as soon as possible after starting in the supervisory role and should also attend <a href=\"http:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/pod\/strategic-leadership-program\/slp-level-1\/\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">SLP Level 1<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve already registered for <a href=\"http:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/pod\/strategic-leadership-program\/slp-level-1\/\">SLP Level 1<\/a>, you\u2019re required to also register for SLP Supervisor Orientation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-sm-6\"><a class=\"uw-btn btn-sm\" href=\"https:\/\/myhr.admin.washington.edu\/UWNetId\/PODext\/Register.aspx?classid=58\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">REGISTER now<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-6\">\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Funded training for supervisors<\/h2>\n<p>The UW and UWHR provide centralized funding to support the success and development of leaders at the UW.
