This was the seventh session to be facilitated by a State-appointed mediator. Recaps are published online on the <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/labor\/unions\/uw-housestaff-association\/negotiation-updates\">UW Labor Relations website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Union Package Proposal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union presented a Package Proposal in response to the Employer\u2019s last, best and final proposal from the previous session on March 11.\u00a0 Package highlights included:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Childcare Fund<\/strong> \u2013 The Union proposed that the Employer&#8217;s childcare fund be increased to $100,000 and maintained its proposal to create a new back up childcare fund of $50,371.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Wage Increases <\/strong>\u2013 The Union proposed an increase to wages across-the-board by 3% after contract ratification and retroactive to July 1, 2019, with an additional increase of 3% on July 1, 2020 and 3% on July 1, 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chief Resident Supplement<\/strong> &#8211; The Union proposed an increase to the Chief Resident stipend supplement to $300 per month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Housing Stipend<\/strong> \u2013 The Union proposed an increase to the existing housing stipend, up to $12,000 annually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Committee Memberships<\/strong> \u2013 The Union proposed that in the event a representative is unable to attend a committee meeting, a substitute could be designated, provided 24-hour notice to the chairperson.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relocation <\/strong>\u2013 The Union proposed that all UWHA residents would be given a $300 relocation stipend in their first month of training,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employer Counter Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Professional Development Fund<\/strong> \u2013 In response to the Union, the Employer proposed to reincorporate current contract language that allows residents to roll over up to $1,000 of unused Professional Development funds in each consecutive training year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pagers and Cell Phones<\/strong> \u2013 In response to the Union, the Employer proposed that if any changes were made to the UW Medicine mobile devise use policy to expand eligibility, then the UWHA would have the opportunity to bargain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next UW and UWHA bargaining session is scheduled for April 15.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background This recap details the twenty-seventh session and first virtual session for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement between the UW and UWHA.
