Recaps are published online on the <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/labor\/unions\/uw-housestaff-association\/negotiation-updates\">UW Labor Relations website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Employer Counter Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>General Wage Increases<\/strong> \u2013 The Employer proposed to increase wages across-the-board by 1% ninety days after contract ratification, 1% on July 1, 2020, and 1% on July 1, 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chief Resident Supplement<\/strong> \u2013 The Employer proposed to increase the monthly chief resident supplement from $150 to $175, beginning July 1, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Home Call Stipend<\/strong> \u2013The Employer maintained its proposal to move $650 from the travel allowance to the home call stipend for a lump sum of $1,800. Additionally, the Employer proposed to increase the home call stipend from $1,800 to $1,900 per year, beginning July 1, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bargaining Unit Definition <\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Union\u2019s proposal to include a Union recognition section listing employee job codes, the Employer proposed to include the Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) certified bargaining unit definition. The Employer again rejected the Union\u2019s proposal to negotiate an expansion of the unit, as proposed by UWHA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relocation <\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Union\u2019s proposal for a relocation stipend, the Employer proposed language stating that programs could provide additional expenses for relocation reimbursement consistent with the relevant Administrative Policy Statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meals <\/strong>\u2013 The Employer proposed a new memorandum of understanding that would require GME to update the current meals policy and provide UWHA with notice and an opportunity to bargain. The policy update would take place by June 30, 2020 or within 120 days of ratification, whichever is later.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moonlighting <\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Union\u2019s proposal, the Employer maintained its interest in keeping much of the moonlighting content in policy and not the contract, but proposed to incorporate additional background information, eligibility requirements including notification to those ineligible, and grant funding details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bulletin Boards <\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Union\u2019s proposal, the Employer proposed language stating that upon request, space will be made available to the Union on a bulletin board at each UW Medicine site, for the posting of information pertaining to Union business. Bulletin board access at non-UW Medicine sites would be available as determined by the training site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next UW and UWHA bargaining session is scheduled for October 23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background This recap details the eleventh session for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement between the UW and UWHA.
