Recaps are published online on the <a href=\"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/labor\/unions\/uw-housestaff-association\/negotiation-updates\">UW Labor Relations website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Employer Counter Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>UWHA Membership <\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Union\u2019s proposal, the Employer proposed to maintain current contract language and would collaborate with the Union proposal to write an introductory document on the GME website notifying candidates of UWHA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miscellaneous Leave <\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Union\u2019s proposal, the Employer proposed to maintain that residents would be covered under the Administrative Policy Statement 46.7 in accordance with the law. The Employer proposed to maintain current contract language with some clarification under Pregnancy Accommodation. Additionally, the Employer proposed to add another section for Leave Related to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault or Stalking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Union Counter Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Childcare<\/strong> \u2013 In response to the Employer\u2019s proposal, UWHA proposed that the language that refers to the current policies on the University of Washington&#8217;s Children&#8217;s Centers (UWCC) website is helpful and would be a great resource and should be included in the article.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Committee Memberships and Hospital Committee <\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Employer\u2019s proposal, UWHA proposed additional language to include that residents attending Institutional Resident\/Fellow Advisory Committee (IRFAC) would not have to be members of Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC). \u00a0Additionally, if GMEC or IRFAC should change, UWHA would be allotted at least three residents as a replacement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fringe Benefits<\/strong> \u2013 In response to the Employer\u2019s proposal, UWHA proposed to remove language in wellness and counseling services regarding encouragement to discuss personal or professional problems with the Chief Resident, Program Director, Program Administrator, Division Chief, Department Chair or personnel in the GME office and that the nature of the session would not need to be discussed in order to be released. Additionally, the Union proposed to remove Health insurance, health services and retirement plans as those are already benefits that the Employer provides.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miscellaneous &amp; Duration <\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Employer\u2019s proposal on Duration, UWHA proposed to update the title to Duration and Owed Wages.\u00a0 Additionally, UWHA proposed moving the section of Duration and Owed Wages from the proposed Miscellaneous article to the Duration article.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next UW and UWHA bargaining session is scheduled for October 15.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background This recap details the tenth session for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement between the UW and UWHA.
