Recaps are published online on the <a href=\"http:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/labor\/unions\/seiu-1199\/negotiation-updates\">UW Labor Relations website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tentative Agreements <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The parties signed tentative agreements to close the following provisions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New Article \u2013 Privacy<\/li>\n<li>New Article \u2013 Family Medical Leave Act and Parental Leave<\/li>\n<li>New Article \u2013 Miscellaneous Leave<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UW Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MOU: Joint Contract Administration Training<\/strong> \u2013 In response to SEIU 1199\u2019s proposal, UW proposed language in which the parties would collaborate on joint training regarding changes to the 2017-2019 collective bargaining agreement, provided that bargaining is completed by July 1, the contract is ratified by July 15, and the union turns around the draft agreement within two weeks of receipt from the employer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOU: Multi-Disciplinary JLM<\/strong> \u2013 In response to SEIU 1199\u2019s concerns about ensuring missed rest breaks are entered in Kronos, UW proposed that the parties would meet at a JLM within six months of contract ratification to discuss potential updates to missed meal and rest break reporting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Economic Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>UW proposed an economic package consisting of the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Wage Increases<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 UW proposed general wage increases of 2 percent on January 1, 2018, and another 1 percent on July 1, 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certification Pay<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 UW maintained its proposal to add a $1.00 certification pay for health care specialists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOU: Non-monetary steps <\/strong>\u2013<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>UW maintained its proposed MOU that would eliminate non-monetary steps by redistributing the values for all pay ranges on pay tables BC and BS, and added pay table BQ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOU: END Technologist Market Increases<\/strong> \u2013 UW maintained its proposal of two pay range increases on July 1, 2017 for all classifications in the END Technologist series, placing them on the new range at the same step to which they are assigned, (in addition to any across the board raise).<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOU: Harborview Nursing Scholarships<\/strong> \u2013 UW maintained its proposal to maintain current contract language and scholarship amounts, while extending the MOU to the 2017-2019 contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education Support Funds<\/strong> \u2013 UW proposed that the employer provide up to fifty dollars for full-time pharmacy technicians and pharmacy technician leads, and pro-rate the funds for part-time employees.\u00a0 UW maintained its proposal to retain current contract language for education fund amounts for other positions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Union Proposals \u2013 Implementation Costs<\/strong> \u2013 The UW provided an updated summary of implementation costs for the union\u2019s monetary proposals, including expansion of break relief.\u00a0 The union\u2019s proposals would cost approximately $58.7 million over the 2017-2019 contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SEIU 1199 Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sub-committees<\/strong> \u2013 SEIU 1199 proposed sub-committee meetings during the session to discuss clarification of UW\u2019s most recent proposals on the MOU on Inpatient Social Work Ad Hoc JLM and the MOU on Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Pay.\u00a0 The parties met to discuss the specified MOU.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next UW-SEIU 1199 bargaining session is scheduled for June 9.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background This recap details the 12th session for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement between the UW and SEIU 1199.
