Recaps are published online on the <a href=\"http:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/labor\/unions\/seiu-1199\/negotiation-updates\">UW Labor Relations website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tentative Agreements <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The parties signed tentative agreements to close the following provisions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Article 14 \u2013 Vacation Schedule<\/li>\n<li>New Article \u2013 Holiday<\/li>\n<li>New Article \u2013 Leave Due to Child Care Emergencies<\/li>\n<li>New Article \u2013 Reasonable Accommodation of Employees with Disabilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SEIU 1199 Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Committees<\/strong> \u2013 In response to UW\u2019s proposal, SEIU 1199 proposed that both parties would make a good faith effort to provide agenda items and release requests five days in advance of a committee meeting.<\/p>\n<p>SEIU 1199 maintained its position to hold committee meetings every other month and otherwise as needed.<\/p>\n<p>SEIU 1199 maintained its proposal to keep current contract language regarding unit leadership training and multi-disciplinary meetings.<\/p>\n<p>The parties tentatively agreed upon an allowance of up to four bargaining unit representatives from different clinical areas for the social worker unit committee and the health care specialist unit committee.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Civil Duty<\/strong> \u2013 SEIU 1199 proposed to eliminate language stating that employees are not entitled to civil leave for legal actions unrelated to university employment, in attempt to separate personal business from the collective bargaining agreement.\u00a0 In response, UW proposed to modify the language by stating that leave without pay would apply to civil duties related to university employment only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UW Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Corrective Action<\/strong> \u2013 In response to SEIU 1199\u2019s proposal, UW rejected language that would require the employer to notify a specified union delegate of all meetings related to an employee\u2019s corrective action process. \u00a0\u00a0The parties had a discussion about the employer\u2019s processes when placing an employee on administrative leave.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MOU: JLM Team Members and Union Delegate Training<\/strong> \u2013 In response to SEIU 1199\u2019s proposal, UW presented an MOU that would implement training to include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Institutional racism training for union and management JLM members (cost split between union and employer)<\/li>\n<li>Bargaining 101 training for union delegates and managers with the Public Employment Relations Committee (PERC)<\/li>\n<li>JLM committee training for union and employer JLM teams with PERC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>MOU: Non-monetary steps <\/strong>\u2013 In response to SEIU 1199\u2019s proposal, UW presented an MOU that would eliminate non-monetary steps for all pay ranges on pay tables BC and BS by redistributing the values.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Wage Increases<\/strong> \u2013 UW proposed general wage increases of 1 percent on January 1, 2018, and another 1 percent on July 1, 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certification Pay<\/strong> \u2013 UW proposed to add a $1.00 certification pay for health care specialists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next UW-SEIU 1199 bargaining session is scheduled for May 26.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background This recap details the 7th session for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement between the UW and SEIU 1199.
