This was the sixth session to be facilitated by a State-appointed mediator.<\/p>\n<h4>Union Proposals<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Stipend Increases<\/strong> &ndash; UWHA proposed increases to the stipends of all residents and fellows, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Upon Ratification:<\/strong> 10 percent across-the-board increase.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Year 2:<\/strong> 6 percent across-the-board increase.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Year 3:<\/strong> 6 percent across-the-board increase.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Housing Supplement<\/strong> &ndash; UWHA proposed that each resident and fellow receive an additional $9,000 per year to assist with the cost of housing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Childcare<\/strong> &ndash; UWHA proposed that UW contribute $900,000 per year to a childcare fund for residents and fellows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parking<\/strong> &ndash; UWHA maintained its proposal for all residents and fellows to have free parking at all training sites.<\/p>\n<h4>Next Steps<\/h4>\n<p>The next UW-UWHA bargaining mediation session is scheduled for February 22.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This recap summarizes the 20th bargaining session between the UW and the UWHA to form the first union contract for UW medical and dental residents and fellows.
