BASIC FUNCTION

Physician Assistant-Advanced RN Practitioner Leads in a clinical area, direct the work of other assigned staff, act as unit liaison, perform educational and preceptor role.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Regularly assign, instruct and review the work of Physician Assistant-Advanced RN Practitioners and/or other assigned staff; function under general direction of an attending physician.

TYPICAL WORK

Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of assigned employees;

Direct the preparation and maintenance of schedules and staff assignments;

Assist in the selection and evaluation process of Physician Assistant-Advanced RN Practitioners and support personnel;

Act as unit liaison with community agencies;

Develop educational programs for staff including orientation and continuing education;

Develop and prepare reports;

Conduct needs assessments;

Coordinate the preparation of statistics;

Perform duties of the Physician Assistant-Advanced RN Practitioners;

May serve as a clinical preceptor and/or function as a teaching resource for other health care professionals during clinical rotation;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Washington, or as a Physician's Assistant (PA) in the State of Washington; AND two years of experience as a Health Care Specialist or equivalent.

Must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the organized medical staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for Hospital-based positions.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
