CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Provide technical operational production and facilities support for KUOW radio and syndicated programming. This is a stand-alone single-class series.

BASIC FUNCTION

Provide technical operational support for facilities and radio production.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Manage all technical aspects of live events for KUOW and for other public radio entities when production involves Puget Sound Public Radio or its facilities; provide technical production support for local radio programming: in-studio, remote production and live broadcasts along with archival support for fundraising and promotional programming.

Co-manage audio production chains including satellite and transmission equipment.

Serve as primary contact for facility maintenance and needs.

Provide staff training as needed for local radio productions.

TYPICAL WORK

Provide technical production support for local radio programming: in-studio, remote production and live broadcasts along with archival support for fundraising and promotional programming;

Coordinate radio production, studio and general broadcast training for staff during transitions and regular refreshers for designated super users;

Assist in the creation and maintenance of documentation for emergency activities, broadcast maintenance and audio production;

Under the direction of the Director of Operations coordinate the maintenance, repair and modifications of facility systems;

Serve as lead staffer for the creation and maintenance of documentation for all facility related systems and equipment;

Assist the operations and programing team with program distribution, audio archives, satellite distribution feeds, rotation of current recorded programs, and program-based messaging and alert distribution;

As part of the operations team, contribute suggestions about systems to select and integrate;

Coordinate with other University departments for building repair and maintenance, specifically UW Motor Pool and University Real-Estate; Serve as point person for facility repair and maintenance when having to deal with property owners or UW Real-Estate department;

The position may be called in for operational trouble-shooting for broadcast and production system problems; and

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience in broadcast production operations or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of computer networks including operating systems, and/or computer-based multi-media programming.

Experience with digital audio production and distribution systems.

Driving, lifting and a basic construction skill required.
