CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Coordinate air/ground transport for emergency medical care.

BASIC FUNCTION

Triage local and interstate medical flights, ground transport and medical team confirmation utilizing CRT radios, multi-lined telecommunication system(s), and voice recorders. Track aircraft in flight.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general direction, triage medical flights, coordinate ground transportation, and activate medical team.

TYPICAL WORK

Resolve flight requests; obtain patient status, and activate the appropriate aircraft flight team;

Report flight request and patient status to Emergency Medical Director and Chief Flight Nurse;

Coordinate estimated time of arrival with requesting agency and receiving medical facility;

Track aircraft to and from patient pick-up point, relaying pertinent patient information to receiving medical facility;

Use voice recorder during all interactions as directed by FCC regulations;

Provide flight transport cost estimates; maintain statistical flight data;

Enter flight and patient data into computerized system;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in a public emergency communications center AND proficiency in medical terminology

OR

Equivalent education/experience.
