CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Provide specialized support to an institution's human resource function. Perform assignments in one or more human resource functional areas such as employment, benefits, employee relations, classification, compensation, human resource information systems and training.

BASIC FUNCTION

Perform specialized technical, and clerical tasks in support of an institution's human resource operation. Provide information to clients and explain policies, rules and regulations applicable to human resource functional area(s).

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, perform technical human resource tasks such as explaining and applying human resource rules, policies, regulations or procedures; and processing and ensuring the accuracy of human resource documents and records.

TYPICAL WORK

Respond to inquiries and provide information about institutional and other human resource rules, policies, regulations or procedures within functional area(s) such as employment examination requirements, benefits eligibility criteria and program offerings, classification, compensation and/or leave rules and procedures;

Receive, review, ensure the accuracy and completeness of, compile and/or maintain human resource data, documents and records such as leave and salary records and employee data forms;

Assist human resource staff in administering a variety of human resource functions such as employment examinations, employee training and orientation, salary surveys, benefits enrollment and temporary appointments;

Enter and/or retrieve data from human resource information or other computerized recordkeeping systems;

Compile data and prepare reports, statistics and statistical summaries, narrative summaries or graphic representations of data;

Prepare correspondence and spreadsheets;

Schedule and arrange meetings, employment examinations and interviews; prepare examinations and job advertisements; assist in presentation at job fairs and other outreach activities;

Receive requests for public records from employees or members of the public; provide or verify public information requested;

Assist in developing internal office procedures;

May direct the work of others;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

Three years of office experience including at least six months of experience in a human resource or related setting

OR

equivalent education/experience.
