Ergonomics is the practice of fitting\u00a0a job to the employee\u00a0so work can be performed without harmful strain or injury. The primary goal of ergonomics is to reduce or eliminate the risk of\u00a0work-related musculoskeletal disorders.<\/p>\n

Most ergonomic requests can be handled through your department.<\/p>\n

UW Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) provides guidance on ergonomics issues. For further information, contact EH&S at 206-543-7388 or visit the EH&S ergonomics page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you are experiencing pain and discomfort while performing your job duties, contact your health-care provider. If the pain and discomfort is job-related, report the issue to your supervisor as soon as possible, and follow the UW accidents and injuries reporting process<\/a>.<\/p>\n
