{"id":9843,"date":"2025-07-09T14:45:30","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T21:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=9843"},"modified":"2025-07-09T14:45:30","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T21:45:30","slug":"stage-technician-1","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/stage-technician-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Stage Technician 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>17572 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n23708 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general supervision, perform a variety of construction, painting, electrical, and mechanical stage production duties; give stage production assistance to students and staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class perform theater technical duties requiring knowledge and skill in carpentry, electricity, and the translation of scenic and lighting designs into actual working elements of a production. Assist production managers and producers in theater and television staging.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Setting-in shows, rigging, masking, portable stage risers, acoustical shells, podiums, chairs, etc., as needed;<\/p>\n<p>Construct scenery including pre-assembly and trucking;<\/p>\n<p>Hang, circuit, and focus stage lighting equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in instruction of basic stage crafts (journey-apprentice relationship);<\/p>\n<p>Assist in on-stage running of a show, striking, storing, and disposing of scenery;<\/p>\n<p>Assist students in methods for translating scenic designs into actual elements of stage scenery;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain and service stage equipment, draperies, scenery, and rigging and cleanliness of stage and related areas;<\/p>\n<p>Ensure that standard safety procedures are followed in stage operations and use of power tools;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two years of experience in theater construction techniques, stage lighting, and theater production.
