Typical Responsibilities<\/strong>
\nProvides concept guidance, consultation, graphic design, and artwork for publication materials. Provides project cost estimates. Manages and oversees the production schedule for all assigned projects. Participates in the development and implementation of publication guidelines, graphic, and style standards. May also lead designer and design team, manage the creative design and production process for print and electronic materials, lead the development and implementation of branding efforts from concept to execution, and participate in the development and implementation of web identity and web communications.<\/p>\n

Supervisory Responsibility<\/strong>
\nPositions in this series are not required to supervise staff.<\/p>\n

Overtime Eligibility<\/strong>
\nFLSA overtime status is based on the position’s duties and responsibilities, and whether or not the position’s gross salary is less than the federal FLSA salary basis test or the Washington state salary basis test, whichever is higher. Professional Staff Exemption<\/strong>
\nGraphic Arts and Publications: Individuals having prescribed academic preparation or special training in the fields of graphic arts, printing and publications, and who are assigned to a major academic or administrative unit and who are responsible for the development and design of scholarly or related publications, or the full range of printing and publication activities.<\/p>\n

Alternative Payroll Titles<\/strong>
\nIf the primary focus of the position is creative graphic design work, Graphic Designer may be a more appropriate payroll title. If the primary focus of the position is development and implementation of marketing and communications materials for the public, Public Information Specialist may be a more appropriate payroll title. If the main focus of the position is planning, directing and coordinating the publication process, Publication Coordinator may be a more appropriate title.<\/p>\n
