BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coordinate the clerical and support activities for patient care on a nursing unit.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under general supervision, assist in daily functioning of the unit and patient care, using designated UW and Medical Center processes and procedures.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Assist with patient admissions, discharges and transfers;<\/p>\n

Answer patient intercom system effectively; responds appropriately to patient\u2019s needs and\/or alerts\/refers to other unit staff members;<\/p>\n

Perform general clerical duties such as answering and screening telephone calls, processing the mail, assembling and sending information to patients, inventorying, ordering and stocking supplies; and maintain record of ordered services;<\/p>\n

Manage visitor access and provides education regarding unit specific policies and procedures;<\/p>\n

Secure and release patient valuables and belongings;<\/p>\n

Assist in orienting and training new staff;<\/p>\n

Perform other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
