BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supervise radiation therapy technologists and other assigned staff.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.<\/p>\n

Under general direction, supervise radiation therapy technologists and other assigned staff; direct the training and coordination of staff; perform assigned administrative duties; perform specialized radiation therapy procedures and\/or dosimetry procedures.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures for radiation treatment area; maintain quality standards of treatment area including proper administration of physician’s prescriptions and appropriate chart documentation of treatment to meet billing and medical standards;<\/p>\n

Direct and perform specialized radiation therapy procedures, such as cyclotron-based neutron radiotherapy, fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery, intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy, dose-intensive conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy; assist physicians and technologists with procedures, such as tumor localization and construction of treatment aids;<\/p>\n

Perform radiation therapy planning procedures and provide technical review of simulation and dose calculation; Oversee and review radiation therapy treatment;<\/p>\n

Assist with the development and testing of new radiation therapy techniques;<\/p>\n

Recommend modifications of prescribed techniques and apparatus;<\/p>\n

Assist with in-service training of technologists; assist with coordinating the service and research functions;<\/p>\n

Perform the duties of a Radiation Therapy Technologist and Radiation Therapy Specialist; and<\/p>\n

Perform other duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Registered in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; AND two (2) years of experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist including one (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory position.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
