Obtain, assemble and arrange sterile instruments and supplies used for surgical procedures; pass appropriate instruments, sutures and supplies to surgeon during procedures; and maintain patient safety throughout perioperative care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general direction, regularly assign, instruct, and check the work of Surgical Technologists or Operating Room Technicians.<\/p>\n<p>Must lead at least one full-time employee (1.0 FTE) or an equivalent combination of part-time Surgical Technologists or Operating Room Technicians.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Train, assign, provide direction, and check the work of Surgical Technologists or Operating Room Technicians in the preparation of operating rooms for surgical procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and implement the daily staffing schedule;<\/p>\n<p>Serve as point of contact to other patient care providers;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in interviewing and onboarding new staff;<\/p>\n<p>Provide performance feedback to management;<\/p>\n<p>Assess and develop quality control methods for department or organizational unit;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate instrument needs including inventory management of sets;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate with Assistant Nurse Manager on specific service line needs for daily management of cases;<\/p>\n<p>Assist technologists and other staff in resolving problems concerning equipment functioning, staff coverage, and interpretation of policies and procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Evaluate training needs of departmental or unit staff and submit recommendations to management;<\/p>\n<p>Perform the duties of a Surgical Technologist or Operating Room Technicians; and<\/p>\n<p>Perform other duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND three years of experience as a Surgical Technologist or Operating Room Technicians.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>12\/02\/2021: New Class as negotiated with SEIU 925 for use at UWMC-Montlake<br \/>\n08\/01\/2023: Added job codes for WFSE and SEIU 1199NW as negotiated with WFSE for use at Harborview Medical Center, and SEIU1199NW for use at UWMC-Northwest<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP Representative group Job codes SEIU LOCAL 925 Healthcare Prof\/Lab Tech 21917 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) 23107 (NE H NI SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) WFSE HMC 18734 (NE S WFSE HMC) 23540 (NE H NI WFSE HMC) BASIC FUNCTION Assist clinical staff in a variety of operative procedures.
