CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perform clinical diagnostic examinations utilizing radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals, including imaging of patient organs and organ systems, dynamic studies, assay of body fluids and tissues and radioassays.<\/p>\n

BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Conduct clinical diagnostic examinations, such as bone and renal scans; schedule patients and operate equipment.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under general supervision, perform clinical examinations and procedures involving the diagnostic and therapeutic use of radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclides. Operate computerized imaging systems and other specialized equipment, such as multi-sample analyzers, uptake and well detection systems, and infusion pumps for pharmacological stress.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perform diagnostic examinations for the detection of disease utilizing radionuclides, radiopharmaceuticals, and specialized equipment and techniques;<\/p>\n

Schedule patients for diagnostic examinations and ancillary services;<\/p>\n

Assist physicians with special diagnostic procedures, such as shuntograms and lymphoscintigraphy;<\/p>\n

Calibrate, check quality control, and operate scintillation cameras and computers, counters and scanners, dose calibrators, survey meters, and other ancillary computers;<\/p>\n

Follow established guidelines for the use and control of radiopharmaceuticals; calibrate and dispense radiopharmaceuticals;<\/p>\n

Monitor laboratory areas for radiation safety and dispose of radioactive waste material;<\/p>\n

Maintain inventory of routine supplies and initiate purchase requests;<\/p>\n

Provide liaison between medical staff and patients, patients’ families, and hospital staff; participate in clinical report conferences;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

LEGAL REQUIREMENT
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Certification as a Radiologic Technologist – Nuclear Medicine in the State of Washington.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Graduation from a program approved by the Joint Review Commission for Nuclear Medicine Technologists (JCRNMT) AND certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
