Lead the professional technical work performed by Medical Laboratory Scientists and Medical Laboratory Scientist Trainees in a section or division of a clinical laboratory and coordinate development and evaluation of new laboratory tests and procedures. Must lead at least 1.0 FTE (or an equivalent combination of part-time positions) of subordinates at least at the Medical Laboratory Scientist 1 level.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Evaluate and document the performance of post-doctoral fellows, residents, students and Medical Laboratory Scientists during training;<\/p>\n<p>Review and evaluate test results; consult with physicians concerning critical or abnormal findings;<\/p>\n<p>Assure quality control standards and competencies are met and documented; troubleshoot methods and instrumentation;<\/p>\n<p>Develop and evaluate new methodologies; write, review and revise technical procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Consult with Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, Health Services Manager and Faculty Director in matters relating to purchasing, budgeting and cost analysis; inform faculty of unusual technical problems and help establish laboratory policies;<\/p>\n<p>Coordinate efforts with the Laboratory Safety Officer in ensuring a safe working environment;<\/p>\n<p>May provide input to the supervisor in the interviewing, hiring and evaluation of employees; may counsel, mentor and provide immediate feedback to section or division staff and recommend disciplinary action to the supervisor\/manager; may participate in the disciplinary action process.;<\/p>\n<p>May develop and implement diagnostic algorithms for specimen analysis;<\/p>\n<p>May be responsible for accreditation preparation and ongoing accreditation readiness;<\/p>\n<p>Continuing education: keep ASCP or other certifications up to date per guidelines of National Organization;<\/p>\n<p>Perform duties of Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 or Medical Laboratory Scientist 1;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Accredited Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science OR equivalent education\/experience<\/p>\n<p>AND<\/p>\n<p>Medical Laboratory Science certification with the American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent, or certification with a specialty organization appropriate to the laboratory division<\/p>\n<p>AND<\/p>\n<p>Three years of professional experience including one year as a Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 or equivalent.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/03\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n12\/14\/1973: Revise Class and Title<br \/>\n04\/18\/1988: Revise Class and Title<br \/>\n05\/14\/2004: Revise MQ<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: Civil Service Reform (CSR) Class Conversion<br \/>\n01\/01\/2014: Revise Class, including title change from Clinical Technologist Lead to Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead<br \/>\n05\/01\/2022: Revise Job Codes<br \/>\n01\/16\/2026: Added UWMC Northwest job codes<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP Representative group Job codes SEIU LOCAL 925 HEALTHCARE PROF\/LAB TECH 18401 (E S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) 18404 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT) 22592 (NE H [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":49,"featured_media":0,"parent":12,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"no","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-6270","page","type-page","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
