BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perform invasive and\/or non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging studies. Participate in training medical residents, fellows, students and staff. Recognize and respond to emergent and life-threatening situations.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Independently perform clinical and research studies and examinations in Magnetic Resonance Imaging involving the knowledge and use of cross-sectional anatomy; operate complex imaging equipment; guide and monitor patients through procedures; administer contrast; maintain incoming information flow about patients and outgoing information about study results; and participate with physicians in designing study techniques for each examination.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Operate imaging and related equipment to perform exams in Magnetic Resonance Imaging;<\/p>\n

Counsel patient regarding safety factors and risks of examination; explain and obtain patient release to participate in examination;<\/p>\n

Administer and inject contrast media;<\/p>\n

Recognize and respond to life threatening situations which may occur during diagnostic and\/or interventional procedures;<\/p>\n

Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as necessary;<\/p>\n

Execute standard calibration procedures; establish and document quality control of equipment;<\/p>\n

Observe computer monitor displaying patient data during examination; alert physician of abnormalities; maintain daily log of procedures performed;<\/p>\n

Determine additional study and examination techniques when abnormalities are present;<\/p>\n

Orient and provide information and instruction to medical residents, fellows, students and staff who are rotating and\/or assigned to the specialty area;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Satisfactory completion of formal technology training in an AMA-approved school, AND registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n

Legal Requirement<\/p>\n

Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.<\/p>\n
