BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perform a variety of routine invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures such as myleograms and arthograms of gastro-intestinal and urinary tracts in a clinical setting. Participate in training medical residents, fellows, students and staff. Recognize and respond to emergent and life threatening situations.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Independently perform a variety of routine invasive and\/or non-invasive diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures such as fluoroscopy and assist physicians during clinical evaluations. Use contrast media under physician direction to view joints, sinuses, gastro-intestinal tract, and urinary tract.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Review and submit patient medical history to appropriate data collection system, consulting with the physician when appropriate and\/or indicated by laboratory protocol;<\/p>\n

Adapt examination to individual patient according to physician orders;<\/p>\n

Prepare patient for examination; explain testing procedures; prepare examination rooms for procedures;<\/p>\n

Administer contrast media and pharmaceuticals under physician direction;<\/p>\n

Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and monitor patient throughout procedure;<\/p>\n

Recognize and respond to life threatening situations which may occur during diagnostic and interventional procedures;<\/p>\n

Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as necessary;<\/p>\n

Operate, calibrate and troubleshoot diagnostic imaging equipment;<\/p>\n

Assist in administering patient care services to maintain continuum of care including utilization of sterile techniques;<\/p>\n

Assist in maintaining and inventory of supplies and evaluating new products and equipment;<\/p>\n

Participate in formal training programs in continuing education;<\/p>\n

Assist physician with imaging procedures such as hysterosalpingiograms, nephrostomy; and cholangiogram;<\/p>\n

Conduct imaging procedures during surgical procedures utilizing specialized equipment;<\/p>\n

Orient and provide information and instruction to medical residents, fellows, students and staff who are rotating and\/or assigned to the specialty area;<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school and eligible for registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Registry completed before completion of probationary period.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n

Legal Requirement<\/p>\n

Registered as an X-Ray Technician by the State of Washington<\/p>\n

Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist, before completion of probationary period.<\/p>\n
