CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coordinate the daily patient flow and provide patient support services in an admitting, registration or patient care area in a medical center.<\/p>\n

BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lead Patient Services Specialists and other assigned staff, and perform the work of the other Patient Services Specialist levels.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under general direction, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others, train and orient staff, provide feedback on employee performance, as well as identify and resolve problems.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participate in interviewing applicants;<\/p>\n

Train and orient new employees and\/or volunteers to department;<\/p>\n

Provide feedback to supervisor for employee performance evaluations, corrective action plans and training plans;<\/p>\n

Review and correct the work performed by others for compliance with established procedures;<\/p>\n

Schedule emergency shift assignments;<\/p>\n

Identify and resolve problems or unusual situations; recommend changes as necessary;<\/p>\n

Monitor and evaluate policies and procedures to suggest operational changes;<\/p>\n

Assists in the preparation and maintenance of provider and clinic schedules;<\/p>\n

Perform the work of the Patient Services Specialist 1, 2, and 3.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

High School graduation or equivalent AND Three years of Patient Support Service experience.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
