CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prepare and serve food and beverages and clean work area.<\/p>\n

BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perform routine work in preparing and serving food and beverages and perform clean-up activities.<\/p>\n

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under direct supervision, perform a variety of duties in the preparation and serving of food and in maintaining sanitary conditions of a food service operation.<\/p>\n

TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Follow directions for preparation and serving of menu items including but not limited to: assemble salads, sandwiches, and desserts; prepare hot and cold beverages;<\/p>\n

Reheat or prepare menu items from prepared sauces and proteins, frozen pre-portioned servings and prepared bakery items;<\/p>\n

Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and equipment; may operate ware and utensil washing machines;<\/p>\n

Clean floors, tables and chairs, replenish condiment dispensers as well as cutlery and napkin dispensers;<\/p>\n

Finalize (reheat or reconstitute) trays for delivery to patients; may deliver and collect food trays;<\/p>\n

May relieve or assist other employees in higher level food preparation tasks to meet emergency or on-the-job training situations;<\/p>\n

May operate kitchen equipment including ovens, microwaves, slicers, toasters, automatic and manual espresso machines, food processors and blenders;<\/p>\n

May process payments including cash and credit\/debit card transactions;<\/p>\n

May operate washers and dryers, sort and fold laundry for food service operation;<\/p>\n

May direct work of students and temporary workers;<\/p>\n

May assist in orienting and training new staff; and<\/p>\n

Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.<\/p>\n

Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n
