{"id":5970,"date":"2024-05-09T13:01:25","date_gmt":"2024-05-09T20:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5970"},"modified":"2025-05-09T10:53:03","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T17:53:03","slug":"food-service-worker","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/classified-staff\/food-service-worker\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Service Worker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>21335 (NE H SEIU 1199NW UWMC Northwest Service and Maintenance)<br \/>\n22971 (NE H NI SEIU 1199NW UWMC Northwest Service and Maintenance)<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prepare and serve food and beverages and clean work area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform routine work in preparing and serving food and beverages and perform clean-up activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under direct supervision, perform a variety of duties in the preparation and serving of food and in maintaining sanitary conditions of a food service operation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Follow directions for preparation and serving of menu items including but not limited to: assemble salads, sandwiches, and desserts; prepare hot and cold beverages;<\/p>\n<p>Reheat or prepare menu items from prepared sauces and proteins, frozen pre-portioned servings and prepared bakery items;<\/p>\n<p>Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and equipment; may operate ware and utensil washing machines;<\/p>\n<p>Clean floors, tables and chairs, replenish condiment dispensers as well as cutlery and napkin dispensers;<\/p>\n<p>Finalize (reheat or reconstitute) trays for delivery to patients; may deliver and collect food trays;<\/p>\n<p>May relieve or assist other employees in higher level food preparation tasks to meet emergency or on-the-job training situations;<\/p>\n<p>May operate kitchen equipment including ovens, microwaves, slicers, toasters, automatic and manual espresso machines, food processors and blenders;<\/p>\n<p>May process payments including cash and credit\/debit card transactions;<\/p>\n<p>May operate washers and dryers, sort and fold laundry for food service operation;<\/p>\n<p>May direct work of students and temporary workers;<\/p>\n<p>May assist in orienting and training new staff; and<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>01\/03\/1973: New Class<br \/>\n01\/15\/1976: Revise MQ<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: Revise Class Title: 6-3-88 CSR Class Conversion<br \/>\n08\/01\/2018: Revise Class Title, Class Series Concept, Typical Work, and MQ; update job code with Workday code<br \/>\n01\/01\/2020: Add UWMC Northwest job titles<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP 21335 (NE H SEIU 1199NW UWMC Northwest Service and Maintenance) 22971 (NE H NI SEIU 1199NW UWMC Northwest Service and Maintenance) CLASS SERIES CONCEPT Prepare [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":49,"featured_media":0,"parent":12,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"no","footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5970","page","type-page","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
